On December 10 there will be a benefit bash for Duende, the local touring theater group that created such perennial favorites as On Fire! the hot play about forest fires, Friendly Fire the moving story of the Me-Wuk people's struggle in the Gold Rush, and The Great Blight, the one-man musical about the Irish Potato Famine and immigration to the US. Featured at the benefit will be Duende's latest: The Starry Messenger about Galileo and the birth pangs of modern science. In addition, celebrated folk singer David Maloney will perform some of his unforgettable songs.
